This round of A Glimpse Into Our Life includes a peek into Fall 2018.
A Glimpse Into Our Life
Around here these days, I’m…
officially kicking off a new school year. While I would say we are Lifestyle Homeschoolers – schooling year-round, our official start of a new school year is the day after Labor Day with the end being the Friday before Memorial Day – with lots of fun learning during the summer months. This year, we’re homeschooling second-grade, kindergarten, and preschool – with a baby in the mix! It is definitely a juggling act, but it’s one that I love!
enjoying some extra time with daddy. In our house, late summer/early fall is Birthday Season! All four of our littles were born around the same time of year, so it is during this time each year when Daddy takes a little extra time off for what we like to call Family Days! We spend each child’s birthday day doing special things together as a family. Our plans for these days aren’t necessarily extravagant or expensive, but they are intentional and full of celebrating.
wrapping up birthday season. Each year – since my oldest turned one – we have wrapped up birthday season with one big family birthday party! Our relatives live out of town, so we invite them down for one big bash and celebrate all of the kids at once – one day, one theme, one cake, and a whole big mess of presents from the grandparents.
It has been so special for our kids. We’re not sure we’ll always do it this way – we’re actually considering moving toward a Birthday Trip tradition, but that’s still to be determined. It’s hard for me to give up party planning, but we think a trip could be really special, too – especially as our boys are getting older.
having new family pictures taken. We had family pictures on the calendar for October – a perfect chance to capture some images for this year’s Christmas card….and it was literally almost 100 degrees outside. We were POURING with sweat. Since I’m a nice wife and mommy, I allowed everyone to wear short sleeves – It didn’t help. We literally almost died. God bless our sweet photographer. She was out there all day…in that heat…trying to help family after family take their Christmas card photos. I simply can not imagination.
You know, sometimes I think about offering photo sessions. I enjoy taking photos…and I’ve done a few sessions here and there for friends, but the pressure of capturing images that will please each and every family. That might be more than I could handle. ha!
sharing a new YouTube Video. I recently set up a YouTube Channel (something I said I would never do – ha!), and putting together videos to feature there has been more fun than I ever dreamed. I would love for you to follow along with our channel as we share videos from our family life. I can guarantee you’ll see cute kids as well as me trying to figure out what on earth I’m doing with my camera! ha!
Recently, I uploaded a new video – but I can’t take credit for this one. Our church production team filmed us sharing about our journey of choosing joy. This was the first time we had allowed anyone else control over our story – So needless to say, we were a little nervous about the whole thing, but the entire production staff took such special care to honor us, our girl, and our Savior, and for that, we will be forever grateful.
