How We Use Reading Eggs in Our Homeschooling
We have been using Reading Eggs for several years now, and I love hearing from other homeschooling families about how they incorporate this program into their learning lifestyle.
Around here, we use it in addition to a traditional homeschooling curriculum we’ve used since my oldest kids were in preschool.

As our family has grown over the years, it has been neat to see Reading Eggs grow with us!
Reading Eggs: Designed for Ages 2-13
We now have the All-Access Family Plan (for 2-4 children).
So when we log-in to our account, all four of my kids’ profiles are there on our Family Dashboard.
Each child can create their own avatar, etc. which is a really fun feature.
My preschoolers love the activities designed just for them…
…while my older kids also continue to advance in their math and reading skills.
We use Reading Eggs during our daily tech time at home…
…and on the go, too!
There are times when we find ourselves in a waiting room while my oldest daughter is in her therapy appointments, and having something like Reading Eggs to keep my other kids engaged AND LEARNING while we wait is so helpful.
It has been such a flexible option for us.
I realize screens can be a hot-button topic among parents.
Various ages, stages, personality types, seasons of life – it feels like all of that plays into the whole thing, but around here, we view technology as one of the many amazing resources out there that make learning fun for kids.
A Safe and Secure Program
We’ve used Reading Eggs on our desktop computer, but my kids mostly enjoy it through the Reading Eggs App.
The app is available for download on both Apple and Android devices, but no matter how you choose to use this program, you can rest assured that the platform is safe.
There is no option to chat with or interact with others.
Anytime I’m considering a new app for my kids, that is typically one of the first questions I have.
When you first get started, the program will access your child using fun placement test activities like this…
creating individualized lessons for each child!
Helpful Resources
Then as they go, you’re able to access progress reports that will help you, as the parent, know where they are struggling and where they are thriving – I love that!
I also like that there are additional resources I can use beyond the online program!Â
Under the Bonus Material portion of your dashboard, there are additional Homeschooling Worksheets and Color Activity Pages available for download.
These are included in your subscription, and the homeschooling worksheets are also available in Spanish.
Hard Copy Workbook Options
In addition to these resources being right at your fingertips when you log-in as a member, Reading Eggs also now offers a variety of different hard-copy workbook options you can purchase~
There are math and reading workbooks for early elementary students…
…as well as for older learners.
This program could stand-alone or be used in the way we do – as a fantastic supplemental resource that is especially seamless to weave into our daily tech time as well as throughout the months when we break from our regular language arts and math curriculum.
As a mom who is always looking for hands-on learning opportunities, you know I’m wild about the fact that these workbooks make it easy for me to grab resources we already have in order to bring the concepts up off the page.
Our place value set, our clock, the coins we keep on hand for learning about money – you get the idea.
Colorful and engaging…
…a fantastic complement to the online program/app.
