Books for My Daughter Who Has Special Needs

Our oldest daughter has Down Syndrome. We like to refer to this gift as her having bedazzled chromosomes. What a blessing her design is to our family!

However, along with her diagnosis comes challenges. Because of this, we are so grateful when we find beautiful books to encourage her as she walks through the pages of her story.

This simple book has not only been great to read with my daughter but with her siblings as well!

He Gave Them Something Extra by Steffanie Larriba

If you have a friend or loved one who has recently received a Down Syndrome diagnosis for their child, this would be a great gift idea!

If you like gift ideas (like the one I shared here), I think this title makes such a sweet baby shower gift – for a boy or girl!

Who Sang the First Song by Ellie Holcomb

When I saw she was turning her creative ideas into a children’s book for little girls, I was so excited to purchase the book for my girls. Twirl by Emily Lex is just as sweet as it looks!

Emily now also has a book she has created just for little boys. It’s called Build, and I can’t wait to gift it to my nephews.

I have to say, some of the things I’ve read by this author aren’t necessarily my style, but this children’s book is really special. Your Brave Song by Ann Voskamp made the most perfect Aubrey Day gift one year!
