This Polar Bear Science Experiment is an activity I always enjoyed with the students in my classroom, and now in recent years, we’ve done in it in our homeschool as well.

Supply List:

– Bowl of Ice Water – Two Gloves – Crisco

Begin by having the student place a single rubber glove on their hand.

Then instruct them to place their gloved hand down in the icy water. *Be careful they don’t leave it down in there too long – this water is going to be cold!.

After they remove their hand from the water, cover the glove on their hand with as much Crisco as you can spread on it!

This may be a little tricky because their glove is now wet, so if you feel like it’s too much of a headache, you could have the student put on a fresh dry glove and then cover that in Crisco.
