Cuisine American
- 2½ cups all-purpose flour
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- 4 teaspoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups buttermilk
- ½ cup butter melted
Preheat your oven to 450°F.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
Pour in the buttermilk and stir just until a soft dough forms. Avoid overmixing.
Pour the melted butter into the bottom of a 9 x 9-inch baking dish, making sure it evenly coats the bottom.
Spoon the biscuit dough directly over the melted butter and gently spread it into an even layer with a spatula.
Using the spatula or a knife, cut the dough into biscuit-sized squares before baking. This makes them easy to separate after they're done.
Bake for 25 minutes, or until the top is beautifully golden brown.
Allow the biscuits to cool for a few minutes before serving warm.
