Equipment

  • Glass Baking Dish

Ingredients

  • cups all-purpose flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 4 teaspoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • ½ cup butter melted

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 450°F.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
  • Pour in the buttermilk and stir just until a soft dough forms. Avoid overmixing.
  • Pour the melted butter into the bottom of a 9 x 9-inch baking dish, making sure it evenly coats the bottom.
  • Spoon the biscuit dough directly over the melted butter and gently spread it into an even layer with a spatula.
  • Using the spatula or a knife, cut the dough into biscuit-sized squares before baking. This makes them easy to separate after they're done.
  • Bake for 25 minutes, or until the top is beautifully golden brown.
  • Allow the biscuits to cool for a few minutes before serving warm.
