The truth is that the actual fudge part of this recipe does not belong to our family.
For years, I thought this chocolate fudge was unique to a relative of ours, but when I asked her for her Secret Family Recipe, she told me it was the Chocolate Fudge Recipe on the Eagle Brand website! ha!
Before this recipe, I had only made fudge a couple of times. Both times, I used Pioneer Woman’s Two-Ingredient Fudge Recipe.
Her recipe calls for sweetened condensed milk and chocolate chips.
I loved the simplicity of her recipe, which is probably why I was willing to try it.
For some reason, making fudge has always seemed like such an intimidating task.
I think it’s been the whole candy thermometer piece that has always made me nervous.
Thankfully, the Eagle Brand recipe is similar to Rea Drummond’s (The Pioneer Woman). Either concoction would make a delicious base for this Andes Chocolate Fudge.
Simple Ingredients for Andes Mint Fudge Recipe
- 3 Cups of Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips (Would you rather use Milk Chocolate Chips, White Chocolate, Dark Chocolate, or another kind? Honestly, any kind of chocolate will do!)
- 1 Can of Sweetened Condensed Milk
- A Dash of Salt
- 1 1/2 Teaspoon of Vanilla Extract
- Andes Baking Chips
Step-by-Step Instructions for How to Make Andes Fudge
- Begin by adding your chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk, and salt to a double boiler. I usually try to stick with a low to medium heat as I want to make sure I don’t burn the chocolate mixture. Don’t have a double boiler? A glass bowl atop a pan of boiling water works. These glass mixing bowls from Pyrex have been a trusty favorite years.
- Once this is all melted into a nice smooth consistency, remove it from the heat and stir in your vanilla extract.
- Now it’s time to pour this simple melted chocolate mixture into a parchment paper-lined 8 x 8 baking dish. You’ll see in our photos here, that we poured ours into a foil pan that had been lightly greased with coconut oil. That worked with no problems!
- As soon as your mixture is evenly spread into your pan, top it with Andes Baking Chips. When we snapped these images for you, we were using the red baking chips. The green ones are also delicious! Sure you can serve this as plain chocolate fudge, but in our opinion, the cool minty flavor takes this fudge to the next level.
- Place the pan in the fridge so the fudge can harden. A couple of hours should do it! When it’s time, slice into inch squares and serve.
In our house, we enjoy eating the fudge while it’s still cold. You may choose to allow yours to come to room temperature before serving.
This is such a rich chocolate recipe that we also like to also have a pot of coffee made and ready to go before serving this fudge.
Andes Baking Chips
See? I told you this creamy chocolate fudge was easy to make – not at all a complicated fudge recipe!
This has become one of our family’s favorite treats to enjoy during the Christmas season.
This is actually an easy recipe to try with the kids.
Wanting to include younger children but worried about them being around the hot stove or pouring melted fudge into a pan?
Give them the task of topping the fudge mixture with the baking chips.
They will love sprinkling them on top of the fudge.
These baking chips are available on Amazon, but they seem to be pretty pricey over there!
I typically find mine in the grocery store, but usually only during the holiday season.
Having trouble finding them?
Crushing up Andes Mints (usually found in the candy aisle any time of year) would be just fine, too.
You’re simply looking for that perfect flavor of Andes!
Disposable Foil Pans for this Easy Fudge Recipe
The pans we used for making this round were no good!
So while they make look cute and festive with their red tops, we do not recommend.
We have found many wonderful pans on our local dollar store, but these were hideous.
The lids wouldn’t stay on…the bottoms collapsed…terrible. ha!

Know any other mint chocolate fans? How about gifting them the best fudge in town?
Such a great gift idea!
Most everyone gets excited about receiving something like this as a Christmas present!
No matter what type of food item we’re gifting, we make sure to use a disposable pan topped with one of these food gift tags!
Storing Leftovers
This fudge can be stored in an airtight container (not the foil pans I bought ha!).
If you have several pieces left over, you may want to place a piece of wax paper between each layer of fudge in the container.
