January 15: Aubrey Day
It was on January 15th, 2016, when we received confirmation that God had designed our little girl with Down Syndrome.
Waiting for the results felt like the most excruciating wait of our lives, and when the doctor shared the diagnosis with us, we grieved.

It was gut-wrenching grief that caused me to cry…and cry…and cry, but everything looks so different now!
Those bedazzled chromosomes that once scared us so much now give us an amazing reason to celebrate…
…to celebrate life…
…to celebrate God’s incredible design…
…to celebrate the goodness of God’s plan…
…to celebrate God’s unending faithfulness…
…and to celebrate our girl!
Aubrey Day
In our house, January 15th is an official holiday – “Aubrey Day”.
Instead of focusing on the challenges and difficulties and struggles and fears that can come along with an unexpected diagnosis, we have chosen to do something different!
We’ve set aside this date every year as a day filled with gratitude and joy – a day where we celebrate God’s goodness, and we love when others join in on the celebration.
On January 15th, will you CHOOSE JOY?
Will you wake up with an attitude of gratefulness and go throughout your day being intentionally mindful of God’s goodness in your own life?
I know we should do these things every day, but January 15th is an extra special day for us, and we would love for you and your family to be a part of it!
Let’s Eat Cookies Together!
After receiving Aubrey’s diagnosis, one of the first things we did to lighten the mood around here was to head to Chick-fil-a to grab some chocolate chip cookies.
I don’t really know why we chose that – probably because it was something quick and easy we could grab in a drive-thru.
That evening, we drove home, ate cookies, drank milk, and talked about how God had designed Aubrey and how we wanted to celebrate that!
Throughout those early years, anytime Aubrey reached a new milestone, we ate chocolate chip cookies!
God gifted us with so many reasons to celebrate, and He continues to do so – we are so grateful.
Now here we are, several years later, and Aubrey Day continues to be a day filled with cookies – a day focused on celebration and gratitude!
Share Your Cookie Photos!
For years now, family, friends, and yes, even lots of strangers make their way to Chick-fil-a and grab chocolate chip cookies for Aubrey Day!
They snap photos of their family CHOOSING JOY – smiling with cookies in hand – and post it on social media.
Those who aren’t on social media either text or email us their photos, and it’s all just so much fun!
Don’t have a Chick-fil-a near you? No problem! Any treat will do!
We simply love celebrating with you!
Our God has the power to change sorrow in to joy, and we know Him so much deeper after experiencing the way He has done it for us.
Your family, especially little Aubrey, is precious!! May God continue to bless you!
Thank you for your positivity and your complete trust in our good Lord!
