Crock Pot Creamy Tortellini
This is the perfect recipe for those busy nights when you want to come home to a warm, delicious dinner.
We all know how busy the weeknights can get!
The best thing about this cheesy tortellini in the crockpot is that you can simply dump the ingredients into your Crock Pot and you’re done.
Super easy!
This is the perfect recipe for your kids to help out with since you’re only using five simple ingredients.
Just be careful once your creamy tortellini is done since your slow cooker will still be warm.
Creamy Tortellini Ingredients:
- 1 Package of Cheese Tortellini (2 Small 10 oz. Packages or 1 Large 20 oz. Package – Measurements are approximate) We typically use fresh tortellini (found in the refrigerated section of your grocery store), but frozen tortellini would also work.
- 1 32 oz. Carton of Low-Sodium Chicken Broth
- 1 8 oz. Block of Cream Cheese
- 2 14.5 oz. Cans of Italian-Style Diced Tomatoes
- 8 oz. of Fresh Spinach
How to Make Creamy Tortellini in the Crock Pot:
I’m not sure this recipe could get any easier!
You literally dump all of the above ingredients into your slow cooker, and let the magic happen.
I typically allow this recipe to cook on medium heat.
After the ingredients start to warm, I give them a little stir.
This ensures that everything gets mixed together well, and in just a few hours, your meal is ready to serve!
Looking for a slow cooker recipe that is pure comfort food – especially throughout the cold winter months?
This meal is it!
Serve with garlic bread or another crusty bread of your choice.
The bread is the perfect complement to the creamy texture of this meal that has become one of my family’s favorite recipes.
Have a family member who likes a little bit of heat added to their dinner plates?
They might enjoy a sprinkling of red pepper flakes on top of their tortellini.
A pinch of fresh parmesan cheese also makes a fantastic topping for this dish.
A great recipe your whole family will love!
Leftover Creamy Tortellini
My opinion?
This recipe tastes even better served as leftovers!
If you find yourself with leftovers, simply store in an airtight container and pop in your fridge to warm and serve the next day.
Have any of you ever tried this recipe in your Instant Pot?
I would love to know how it does.
In recent years, I have been making more and more of our favorite recipes in our pressure cooker, and I’ve been tempted to give this one a try in there.

Is this cooked on Low or High?
I have done both, and would probably recommend low~ 🙂
I’ve got all the ingredients and want to cook this for my girlfriend this weekend yours looks delicious wish me luck 🤗
I hope you guys love it and want to make it again! So nice to meet you, David~
I have an 8 qt crockpot. Is that too big?
You should be good to go!
Flavor was fantastic but my tortellini was way overcooked. Any tips on how to avoid this? Thabks!
One more question. Are the tomatoes supposed to be drained? Thanks!
Hey Taryn! I usually leave the juice in this recipe – Hope you enjoy it!
Also are the tomatoes supposed to be drained? Thanks!
Tortellini got soggy. Do you use frozen or fresh tortellini? Absolutely delicious otherwise!
I’m so glad you enjoyed it! We have tried it both ways – I believe the one you see pictured here is Buitoni brand~
No Taryn, you need the juice from the tomatoes along with the chicken broth to cook the tortellini.
How many does it serve?
This usually serves our family of six – and we typically have some leftovers!
Could this be done on the stovetop or as an oven bake? We don’t have a Crock-Pot but would like to try this.
I bet it would work on the stove top! That might be a good way for us to try this one when we’re out of town – love that idea!
If you do try it on the stove, could you leave any tips about what worked? ☺️
How many hours in the crockpot to avoid soggy tortellini? I’d like to know how many hours for both low & high setting on crockpot.
I’m so sorry, Deb, but our Crock Pot only has one setting – Maybe someone else will have some ideas for you! We usually let it go for about 3 hours.
Maybe try low for 3 hours just to make sure it doesn’t get too soggy for you. Thank you for being here! We hope you love this recipe –
We love this recipe. We have added small-size cubed kielbasa. Very good!!
I’m so happy to hear this! That sounds delicious – We should try that, too! Thank you!
