Ingredients Needed For Christmas Grinch Fruit Kabobs

  • 12 Toothpicks or Kabob Sticks – You can find these wooden skewers at many grocery stores, typically where grilling equipment is located. However, the fruit doesn’t take up much space, so you can always use regular toothpicks if you can’t find the kabob sticks.
  • 12 Strawberries – Trim the leaves off of the strawberries, making a straight cut across the top. This will serve as the Santa hat! Choose strawberries that come to a nice point at the tip, and avoid those monstrously large ones. Nobody needs that big of a Santa hat!
  • 12 Green Grapes – Double check that your bag of grapes is seedless, particularly if you’re making these fun snacks for a holiday party. Also, definitely use green grapes, even if you prefer the taste of red grapes. This is the Grinch face!
  • 12 Banana Slices – A slice of banana will sit between the top of the strawberries and the bottom of the grape. You want thin slices, but not too thin or they won’t hold up well. Warning: If you cut them too far ahead of time, the banana slices will start to oxidize and turn brown. To keep them looking fresh, dip each slice in either lemon juice, lime juice, orange juice, or pineapple juice.
  • 12 Mini Marshmallows – The pom-pom on the Santa’s hat. If all you’ve got in the pantry are large marshmallows, that’s fine. No need to make a run to the store! If you like, simply use a sharp knife to cut the large marshmallow into smaller pieces.

How To Make these Grinch Fruit Skewers

  1. Begin by prepping all of the fruit. This means cutting the banana into thin rounds and chopping off the tops of the strawberries.
  2. Start by placing a mini marshmallow on the tip of each toothpick or kabob skewer. Make sure it’s on there good and firm!
  3. Next comes the red hat! Slide the strawberry onto the kabob, making sure to position it so that the narrow end of the strawberry is next to the marshmallow.
  4. Finish the hat by adding a sliced banana.
  5. Add the Grinch head by finishing off the kabob with a green grape. If you’d like to go over the top, use an edible marker to add some facial features on the little guy!

Storing These Christmas Kabobs For Later

If you’re making this festive snack to enjoy later or bring to holiday get-togethers, first be sure to dip each banana slice in some sort of citrus juice.

This stops the browning process in its tracks!

Then, simply assemble each healthy treat and place them in a single layer in an airtight container.

  • Snowman Jar – Fill a decorated jar with coconut flakes and white chocolate pretzels, and you’ve got a festive and tasty snowman gift to give away.

Turning These Grinch Kabobs Into Santa Kabobs

Not a big fan of the Grinch movie? I get it!

You can turn these fruity Christmas Grinch kabobs into Santa kabobs with no trouble at all! They’ll still be a healthy holiday snack that comes together quickly.

Use both mini marshmallows and large marshmallows. Use a sharp knife to cut each large marshmallow in half horizontally. This large marshmallow slice will now serve as the bottom of the hat, taking the place of the banana slice.

Cut your banana slices thicker, because you’ll be using them for the Santa face! They need to be thicker because instead of skewering them through the middle, you’ll run the toothpick up through them from one edge to another, so that the slice lays flat.

Or just do it like this – skipping the grapes!
