In our house, we have a wide range of ages, so this diaper basket has evolved over the years…(I spy a couple of older photos.)

…to now include things for my older kids, and these days, I actually keep a couple of different baskets in my car!

If your family is like ours, you may relate to the wide range of suggestions I’ve included on my list for you here.

Want to create your own Fully Stocked Minivan Diaper Basket?

Step #1  – Consider a few items that you know would be helpful to have in your vehicle!

Are there specific supplies you always find yourself needing for your kids but never have within reach?

Can you think of items you oftentimes forget at home? Are there essentials you are constantly having to remember to put in a diaper bag?

To help you get started, you may even want to create a written list of the items that come to mind. Many things will be specific to your unique family!

Want to know what I include in my basket?

  • Diapers – We keep regular diapers and swim diapers in our basket. Here in the Carolinas, you never know when you’re going to stumble upon a great splash pad.
  • Diaper Wipes
  • Changing Pad
  • Cleaning Wipes
  • Aquaphor – I like to call this medical duct tape – It can fix just about anything! ha!
  • Small Trash Bags or Plastic Grocery Store Bags (to use for dirty diapers)
  • Disposable Bibs and Placements for Eating Out
  • Extra Pacifiers

  • Kid-Friendly Snacks
  • An extra sippy cup and/or snack cup – I keep a couple of clean snack cups in the car for my younger ones, and these come in especially handy when I need to split up food we’ve picked up on the go.

Psst….we also keep a travel potty in our car.

This has also been a lifesaver for us over the years, but I realize it doesn’t exactly fit in a basket. ha!

We have one kind of like this one that can usually be dumped by the side of the road.

Bonus Idea:

I also like to include a change of clothes for my babies and toddlers.

This has come in handy many, many times! Spit up issues, potty accidents, you get the idea.

As much as we are on the go, this has actually saved me many times with my older kiddos as well!

I don’t always have extra clothes in the car for them, but if we’re venturing a little farther from home than usual to do something that may be a little messy – hiking, berry picking, etc. there have been times when bringing along some extra clothes has proven to be a smart move.

Remember how I mentioned keeping swim diapers in the car?

You may also want to make sure you keep swim clothes, an extra towel, etc. on hand as well.

This may be somewhat dependent on where you live and what kinds of activities your family likes to do.

For our lifestyle, a towel has come in handy to wipe down wet slides at the park…or again, for those surprise plash pads we discover when we’re out exploring together on the weekends.

Step #2 – Gather your items together!

Is there anything else you want to add? Is there anything specific that you need to buy?

Step #3 – Find the perfect container!

There’s no need to go out and purchase something new! You probably already have a basket or a container of some sort that would work perfectly!

I have more than one mom friend who uses a plastic storage bin in her vehicle, and that option works really well, too.

Simply find something that will work for you…

…fill it with your needed items and move it to your vehicle!

Put together one of these baskets. Pop a bow on it, and drop it off at her house. Just don’t ring the doorbell as her baby might be napping!  😉
