Build-Your-Own Taco Party Bar
We absolutely love inviting friends and family in to our home, and when we get together with our favorite people, we like to eat!
I love putting together yummy food for everyone to enjoy, but I also like to keep things as simple and stress-free as possible. During the summer months, we give our outdoor grill quite the workout, but as the cooler weather blows in, we gather indoors and share some of our favorite comfort foods! One of my favorite go-to ideas is to throw together a Taco Party Bar!

Not only is this Taco Party Bar perfect for festive gatherings, but it also makes for a fun (while still super simple!) weeknight meal for your family!
How to Create a Taco Party Bar
While the little ones are napping, I prep the ingredients…
…and when everything is ready to go on this cute tray set I found while out thrifting one day, I cover each section with plastic wrap, stack them up, and toss them in the fridge! (While I can’t seem to locate a link for my exact set, I love this 5-Piece Set by Fiesta!) When it’s time for dinner, I pull each section out of the fridge, arrange them on my lazy susan, and dinner is served!
We interrupt this Taco Party for a random side note: This lazy susan is also perfect to use when playing Scrabble. While we’re chatting games, Tacos vs. Burritos might be fun to play at a taco-themed get together!
Our Go-To Family Recipe:
Ingredients:
- 2 lbs. of Ground Beef
- Taco Shells
- Cheese
- Romaine Lettuce (or Spinach Leaves)
- Sour Cream
Step-by-Step Instructions:
- Step One: Brown 2 lbs. of ground beef.
- Step Two: To the ground beef, add a taco seasoning of your choice.
- Step Three: Serve the ground beef on a taco shell with cheese, lettuce, and sour cream piled high on top of the meat!
If I’m hosting a large gathering, I prepare a larger amount of ground beef (or chicken) and keep it warm in the Crockpot.
Cheese, Lettuce, and Sour Cream are a must, but we also love to include these fun ingredients:
- whole black beans or refried beans
- corn
- tomatoes and/or salsa
- tortilla chips
- avocado or guacamole
- green onions
Sometimes we simply toss together all of the toppings and make yummy taco salads; but my crew usually prefers to stuff soft tortilla shells to the brim and chow down like there’s no tomorrow, and when hosting a gathering, that’s usually the way to go!
If your family and friends love this style of food as much as mine do, this Taco Soup topped with Mexican cheese is another great option! When I make it ahead of time, freeze it, and then simply warm it up on the day I need to serve it, the prep is even easier!

With the holidays just around the corner, have you considered a themed gathering? For example, one Christmas Eve, we partied with Italian food. Another year we celebrated with Mexican food, and this Taco Party Bar is the perfect way to serve a host of friends and family. Whether you are entertaining five people or fifty, it works!
