Freezer Lasagna

My kids and I love watching different cooking shows. While we’re watching, my oldest likes to tell me which recipes he wants us to try, and he’s usually focused on the dessert they’re making! ha!

Recently, though, we all got excited about trying this Cowboy Lasagna we came across on a weekend cooking show rerun. I think what makes it cowboy is that it not only calls for ground beef in the recipe – but pork, too.

Freezer Meal: Cowboy Lasagna Recipe

Our mouths were watering watching this lasagna be put together, so we knew we wanted to give it a try. Not only did I think it would make a yummy dinner for that week, but I had a feeling it would also make for a perfect freezer meal option!

This freezer lasagna recipe is great to bring to friends, especially new moms.

When you’re a new mom, the last thing you want to think about is what is for dinner… This will help her out BIG TIME.

You could also keep this recipe in the freezer to be ready to toss in the oven for potlucks! Don’t forget to add a printable tag!

Freezer Lasagna Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. of ground beef
  • 1 lb. of ground sausage
  • 1-2 jars of spaghetti sauce
  • 1 box of lasagna noodles
  • Lots and Lots of Cheese (Ricotta, Mozzarella, and Parmesan)
  • Pepperoni Slices

Freezer Lasagna Step-by-Step Instructions:

Step #1: Pre-heat your oven to 350 degrees.

Step #2: Brown your ground beef and sausage: Drain and then mix with your spaghetti sauce – a jar or two of store-bought spaghetti sauce work great for us.

Step #3: In your 9 x 13 pan, layer: meat/sauce mixture – lasagna noodles – cheeses (ricotta, mozzarella, and Parmesan) and then repeat until you reach the top of your pan! Cover the top with more cheese (any kind will do) and possibly a handful of pepperoni slices!

Step #4: Bake for 40 minutes. Let cool for 15 minutes or so and then serve!

On this particular day, I doubled the recipe – tossed one in the oven for dinner and the other in the freezer for another time!

Hey Amy! Just plop them in uncooked, and they will cook as it bakes! That made me nervous at first, but I promise it works! haha!
