Board Books for Little Hands
Touch & Feel Farm Animals – Babies, toddlers, and preschoolers will enjoy having this book read aloud to them and feeling the textured areas on the different animals throughout the book.
Egg to Chicken – This book is one of several books in this life cycle series. This book is a fantastic teaching tool. It is interactive for young children, but not too juvenile to use with elementary students learning about animal life cycles.
Noisy Farm – This touch and feel book also has sounds. This book will make your little one giggle non-stop!
Peek-a-Boo Farm – This interactive book has been a favorite in our house for years. It has a fun rhyming pattern throughout as well as flaps that can be lifted to reveal hidden animals on the farm. I do not currently have a link for this title, but if I find one, I will update this area of the post.
Night Night Farm – The glow-in-the-dark feature in this picture book makes it an extra special title on our farm book list.
Peek-A-Book Farm – This little farm read from Scholastic is the perfect book for cuddling up to read before bedtime.
Lift-the-Flap Shadow Book: On the Farm – Children guess what’s under each flap in this board book, learning to recognize familiar objects and animals that can found on a farm.
Little Golden Books about the Farm
Little Golden Books are classic books that share stories that have been loved for generations, stories like:
Farm Books by Usborne and Kane Miller Publishing
Over the years, we have collected a variety of different farm-theme books from Usborne Books and More and Kane Miller Publishing.
We realize their company now goes by another name, but if you’re interested in shopping these specific titles, many of them are available on Amazon.
Such a fun and interactive collection of books that I consider to be some of the very best farm books.
More Great Farm Books for Young Readers
Now for a few more book recommendations I can’t help but share!
Cows Can Moo! Can You? (All About Farms) – Many of the books in The Cat in the Hat’s Learning Library have been a fun addition to our home library. Preschoolers and elementary students alike enjoy these engaging books. These are fun to read aloud, and the illustrations include bright colors and silly antics that will keep kids smiling as they follow along with you.
Inside a Barn in the Country – This is a rebus read-along story. This type of book can provide new readers with such a confidence boost! I love having these kinds of stories in our collection of good books that we own.
Mrs. Wishy-Washy’s Farm – This is a favorite bedtime story in our house. Mrs. Wishy Washy is truly beloved, and of course we also love Mrs. Wishy-Washy’s Christmas.
A Few More Favorite Farm Stories:
- Biscuit’s Day at the Farm
- Big Red Barn – One of Margaret Wise Brown’s classic books!
- Hogwash by Karma Wilson – A fun and silly read! Those pigs are not at all interested in the farmer giving them a bath. Karma Wilson is the author of the popular Bear books. Bear Stays Up for Christmas has been a long-time favorite in our house.
- Tractor Mac Books
- Sleep Tight Farm: A Farm Prepares for Winter – Such beautiful illustrations in this book by Eugenie Doyle and Becca Stadtlander.
