Faith Based Resources for Kids
One of the questions I consistently see in my inbox is What faith-based resources have you and your kids loved most? I love this question! It is always so exciting to consider the other families out there who are passionate about introducing their children to Jesus.
As Christian parents, there is no more important job we have than to bring our little ones face-to-face with the One who made them, and homeschooling allows our family to live and learn together with THIS being at the very center of each subject area we include in our academics.

- Why are we learning to read?
- Why must we grow to be strong communicators?Â
- Why is it important to understand the order of mathematics?
- Why learn about the world around us?Â
- Why study the lives of those who have gone before us?Â
As Christ-followers, the answers to these questions should have one central theme: Jesus.
Over the years, I have spent a lot of time with all kinds of different Bible resources for kids, and when I think about why certain products have become my favorites, there are a couple of things I consider.
- I long for my kids to clearly see the redemption story as being present from the beginning of the Bible to the end:Â Jesus came for us.
- I want my kids to experience a chronological view of Bible history – not a segmented story here and there approach that is oftentimes the scattered feel of many programs designed for children.
- I am passionate about gifting my kids with consistent Bible memory practice.
You may already have a few favorite resources that you love, and I can’t wait to see what you think of the ones I include here.
Faith-Based Resources
The Jesus Storybook Bible Materials by Sally Lloyd Jones are fantastic! Talk about the story of redemption being woven throughout from beginning to end – In my opinion, I’ve never seen it done better!
A similar product to The Jesus Storybook Bible is The Jesus Calling Storybook Bible. We have enjoyed it as well!
Also Available: Thoughts to Make Your Heart Sing and The Biggest Story
How do we use these resources? Simply reading through them from beginning to end – sometimes during breakfast, sometimes at the beginning of our school time, sometimes at bedtime. Gathering together as a family and focusing on TRUTH…what could be more powerful?
At this point, we have been through these Bible storybooks a number of times, and while we look forward to revisiting them again and again, we are always excited about exploring new resources – and I’ll be sure to share them with you as we move along in our journey.
Bible Memorization
I am passionate about my kids memorizing the Bible, because I know what a powerful impact doing so had on me as a child – the Scriptures I memorized during my early years are literally imprinted on my heart and have served me powerfully over the years.
There are so many great resources out there to help you as you encourage your children to memorize God’s word, but in our current season, we are actively involved in a local AWANA program. If you have a church near you that offers it, I would highly recommend it! Not only are my kids memorizing the Bible, but the verses are reviewed time and time and time again – so they actually stick!
If you’re doing a Letter-a-Week approach with your kids, these ABC Bible Memory Cards from A Beka are excellent! We don’t use them as heavily as I had initially planned – as our AWANA practice keeps us busy throughout the week – but we do visit each of these verses as we go throughout the alphabet each year.Â

There are loads of great options out there for you to consider when planning for faith lessons in your homeschooling – excellent products that don’t cost a lot of money! My encouragement to you? Keep things relaxed – nothing fancy required – always remembering that our children are learning more about our Savior by watching how we live than listening to what we say.
Want more ideas for how we have encouraged our kids to memorize the Bible? I have lots more to share on that here as well as some additional encouragement here for all of us.
