Do you remember when I shared the Rustic Headboard we created using Ana White’s amazing design plan?

Well, not long after our headboard was complete, we dove head first in to another project: Creating a Farmhouse Table.
By the way, when I say we, I’m referring to my husband.
Just want to clear that up here at the start of this post.
He is the one with the amazing collection of tools he rarely gets to use because his real-life job takes so much time that he has little opportunity to spend time enjoying one of his favorite things: woodworking – but maybe someday…when he retires…he will get to put all of those tools to more use! ha!
Want the details on our Farmhouse Table which is actually a DIY Version of one of Restoration Hardware’s amazing dining room tables? Okay, here we go!
Once again, we used plans by the amazing Ana White whose plans have been put to use by the wonderfully talented girls from Shanty2Chic!
The wood we used for the top of our farmhouse table came from Lowe’s…
…and while the home improvement stores in your area might carry the pieces of wood you’ll need for the base, we actually grabbed ours from a locally-owned specialty store that offered exactly what we needed.
The wide pieces of wood that make up the table top…the pocket holes…the bulky screws we found at a salvage store and used as our hardware are just a few of my favorite things about this table.
WARNING: This table is HEAVY! Believe it or not, hubby and I were able to get it in our house and place it where we wanted all by ourselves – but I’m not saying I would recommend that. ha!

What did we do for seating?
Well, at first we made wooden benches to match the table. We thought it was going to be a good fit for our crew, but we actually didn’t love it. Those gorgeous benches ended up serving as great seating for our daughter’s first birthday party (ha!), and then we ended up grabbing a batch of these tub chairs from World Market and using them with our table instead.
We watched for these cuties to go on sale and then paired the sale with one of World Market’s furniture coupons. We felt like we got a great deal, and we love the extra farmhouse touch they add to the table!

While I do not at consider myself a DIY Blogger (or a Home Decor blogger), I love sharing great finds, and have been so pleased with the plans hubby and I have spotted from Ana White as well as the Shanty2Chic girls! I’ve been so happy with our farmhouse table and have so many other fun projects pinned! Needless to say, I’m looking forward to hubby’s retirement – just a few more decades to go! ha!
Thank you for the inspiration! While I am at a new phase in life (widow of five years), grandmother, downsizing, etc., I find much pleasure in minimizing. I’m starting photos. Thanks.
I hope it’s going well for you! At times it has felt like such a slow process for me, but then I look back and see what I’ve accomplished!
