Name Practice Art Activity
When my oldest daughter was at the stage where she was learning to write her name, this name practice art activity the perfect idea for her!
It gave her lots of exposure to seeing her name – even before she was ready to spell and write it independently.

Supplies for this Idea
This activity doesn’t require many supplies.
All you need is a large piece of paper or posterboard and some tools for writing, drawing, coloring, etc.
- posterboard or paper – Even a simple piece of construction paper will work just fine.
- pencils, pens, markers, paints etc. – Whatever you have on hand!

How to Set Up this Simple Name Activity
This setup for this activity is quick and easy.
- Write your child’s name on the paper or poster.
- Then tell them to decorate it! That’s right – they can write, draw, color, paint, add stickers – whatever they want on their name poster.

We have done this activity a number of different ways, and we hope these snapshots will inspire you to try something like this with your own child.

You can also encourage them to try to write their name a few times as they decorate.
Nothing forced – just fun exposure to their name as they’re learning.

If you have a child who could benefit from some extra support with this skill, we hope you will find this idea helpful.
