Over the years, I’ve spotted other books that would also be perfect to gift with crayons or other colorful art supplies.
I’m including them here for you and I hope you spot a fun read that will become a favorite for your kids, grandkids, or students!
Books about Colors
Dr. Seuss’s Book of Colors – This is one of their Bright and Early Beginning Books for Early Readers.
All of my kids have loved learning to read and rhyme with these books.
Young readers seem to be drawn in by the bright colors in this wonderful book.
The Color Kittens – Is there anything better than a Little Golden Book?
This story is as cute as can be with beautiful illustrations throughout the story.
Brown Bear, Brown Bear – A classic book for young children by Bill Martin, Jr. and Eric Carle.
I think all my kids got to where they knew every word to this one when they were little.
The review at the end of book is fantastic!
Animal Colors – I love how interactive this book is!
A fantastic book for building speech and language communication skills.
We will update this post if we’re able to find a link for this one.
Play with Paint – This is a fun little board book I found at our local public library.
The author, Jenny Pinkerton, also has a book about clay.
As a teacher mom, I get really excited anytime I find books that teach.
Looking for a title that teaches basic art concepts using simple text for little ones?
This one is a book recommendation you and your young reader will enjoy.
Blue Hat, Green Hat – Blue hat, green hat, red hat, oops.
If your child enjoys Sandra Boynton books, this will be a fun book to add to your collection of color books.
Carry and Learn Colors – Explore the world of colors with animals!
We have had this book since my oldest kids were itty bitty.
We will update this post if we’re able to find a link for this one.
I think I found this one at Marshalls or T.J. Maxx/Home Goods.
Over the years, I have found those stores to have a really nice selection of books.
Board books, interactive books, picture books – they always seem to have a nice variety on the shelves.
Oftentimes, they are affordably prices and perfect for gift giving.
Interactive Books from Usborne Books – For a number of years, I was a consultant for Usborne Books and More (now known as Paper Pie).
During that time, I collected some fantastic interactive books.
These titles were a lot of fun for my girls who were working on learning their colors (and color words) at the time.
Teeny, Tiny Mouse: A Book about Colors – I was second-hand book shopping when I found this cute little paperback book.
How adorable are those little jars of paint?
As you read, you walk through the home of the mice, spotting all kinds of different home items of various colors.
Sylvie – If you like books that encourage children to be who they were created to be, you’ll love Sylvie.
I originally purchased this one because we think flamingos are simply amazing.
Then we were surprised with a fun story that gave me the opportunity to remind my kids that were intentionally created by design!
I try hard to capture any opportunity to point my children to the Creator who made them and loves them.
How the Crayons Saved the Rainbow – Have you seen this series?
We were gifted this beautiful hardback copy of this book.
Since falling in love with these cute little crayons, we have since borrowed other stories from this series from the library.
Such adorable illustrations!
The Day the Crayons Quit – The creative authors of this book also have an entire series that kids find captivating.
You can check out their list of books here.
Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes – I wonder if Eric Litwin knew he was creating a classic for teaching children their colors.
When my boys were little, our local librarian would sing this song at story time and make all the kids laugh.
Over the years, I’ve heard other librarians singing their own tune with this song – anything goes!
This interactive picture book has been read on repeat in our house over the years, and I think the kids in your life will love it, too.
White Rabbit’s Color Book – This book by Alan Baker is one of my favorite books for teaching colors!
Not only does it teach basic colors, but it explores color mixing in a really fun interactive way.
