Summer Boredom Basket
If your kids like to stay busy during the summer – or any season of downtime for that matter – the idea of a Summer Boredom Basket might be perfect for them.
- rough weather days
- sick days
- when mom is struggling with morning sickness
- at times when a parent needs to take a phone call or video meeting

Check out how we used this idea to put together a little basket of fun one weekend when a hurricane was coming through our area.

What is a Boredom Basket?
A Boredom Basket is a small basket filled with independent activities your kids can do when they are feeling bored.
No need to spend lots of money on this!
In fact, at the start of the summer, I typically fill our Summer Boredom Basket with things I find at the neighborhood yard sales that are held around our area that time of year.

Try not to overthink it!
Simply choose activities your children will enjoy doing.
- Is your child artistic?
- Do they like animals?
- Are they musical?
- Is there something they’ve been wanting to learn more about?
- Do they enjoy STEM activities?
As you browse yard sales, thrift stores, dollar spots, etc. you will spot things you know your kids will love.

No fancy basket needed!
You may already have a basket on hand (or spot an inexpensive one on Facebook Marketplace) – or maybe you want to use a different kind of container.
There are no rules!
This is simply all about keeping little hands busy and engaged in creative activities they will love.
